I’ve been really quiet on here lately, lots of work on and other commitments to adhere to. But I’ve finally got a few things to report on, and a spare five minutes to share them!

First up, my 2nd edition in a series of posts for Pete Tyjas and his online magazine Eat Sleep Fish. Pete challenged me with producing a regular column, discussing the latest news in fly fishing. I’ll admit it’s been hard to keep the content interesting, but I’m enjoying the challenge. Have a read of The Eddy Current, and the rest of Eat Sleep Fish 62 here.

This week I’ve been up in Stockbridge for the Orvis UK annual fishing conference. Its not always easy turning a hobby into a career, but I have to say, working in an industry I’m so passionate about is a genuine privilege. Working for Orvis has been an incredibly positive experience, and I’m really excited to work a full season for them in 2017. Apart from the business side of the conference, we also got to throw a line on the Kimbridge beat of the River Test. This was my first time on a chalk stream, and I was so pleased to snag myself a fish, even if it was an out of season Bow!

Getting out of the workplace and getting to fish with colleagues was an absolute pleasure. Photo by Richard Banbury of Orvis UK.

2017 will be an exciting season with so many new products!

Its worth mentioning whilst we are here, that I'll be attending the South West Fly Fair for Orvis. It will be an exciting day of demos, talks and new products. Hope to see you there!

Also, can you believe we are almost halfway through February? The season is just around the corner!
